Hey all. As if you're not getting your fill on election stuff these days
with the ASUC elections (not to mention the ever-continuing Hillary and
Obama battle), we're going to have a info meeting this week on the June
primary elections as well as some stuff about the board elections. We'll be
doing absentee registration in case you don't want to register at home for
this one election...what can I say, we live you to make your lives easier.
Also, if you're at all interested in running for a position on the Cal Dems
board, this is an essential meeting-we'll be reviewing our duties as board
members, as well as having a quick meeting afterwards for all who are
thinking about running to go over the logistics of running (and so you can
see who your competition is, wink wink).

******************************PROGRESSIVE QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
"You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of
their soldiers and the truncheons of their police. Yet in their hearts there
is unspoken - unspeakable! - fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts!
Words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home, all the more powerful
because they are forbidden. These terrify them. A little mouse - a little
tiny mouse! -of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest
potentates are thrown into panic." - Winston Churchill

-A new Berkeley-created Debate Forum
www.peopledebate.com
UC Berkeley is perhaps most famous for its pot-smoking hippies and its
liberal ideals, but UC Berkeley is also famous for the free speech
movement, which made sure that students and activists alike could no
longer be silenced on campus. But what good is free speech, when the
best ideas are drowned out by the masses? We are hoping to change
that by created a new debate forum, which allows users voice their
opinions and highlight the most important ideas on each side of any
debate. Admittedly, we do have a "liberal bias" at the moment,
especially on the Republican side - you'll see what I mean at
peopledebate.com - but who said that liberal bias was a bad thing
anyway? We continue to work on new features everyday, and you'll see
our site grow over time. Check us out at www.peopledebate.com and
post your thoughts. (We'd also welcome comments/suggestions, look me
up on facebook, or e-mail me at HenryLin at eecs.berkeley.edu). Thanks
everyone!
