chapters and members to gather together to plan for our efforts in 2008,
network with our peers, get trainings from experts in the field, hear the
latest campaign updates and how your chapter can get involved, and to have
fun with fellow young democrats across the state.

We also welcome a variety of elected officials like the Assembly Speaker, Lt
Governor John Garamendi, Controller John Chiang, 2005's Democratic
Gubernatorial candidates Phil Angelides and Steve Westly, members of both
the Assembly and the Senate, and many more. This year will be much of the
same. Talk to Molly B. if you’re interested and sign up ASAP so we can

PROGRESSIVE OPPORTUNITIES:

- Improve Berkeley and have student voices heard!

Although students represent a significant portion of the Berkeley
population, in almost every way, our collective voices are stymied. This
is where the ASUC City Affairs Lobby, housed in the External Affairs
Office of the ASUC, comes in! This year, we will work to improve safety,
develop Berkeley's economy, and build student power in city, university,
and neighborhood relations. We will weigh in and affect the city's zoning,
transportation, and housing decisions. We will work to appoint more
student commissioners than ever before.

Are you interested in improving your city? Are you passionate about
building change? If so, we need you!

We will also host an info-session on the work of the City Affairs Lobby on
Monday, September 17 at 6pm in the Senate Chambers on the first floor of
Eshleman. Snacks will be provided!

Finally, a 2-unit city affairs De-Cal course, "The Other Berkeley," is
offered as an adjunct service of the ASUC and is still accepting students!
The course will take place on Tuesdays, 6-8pm in Wurster 214B and will start
on September 18.
The CCN for CP 98 is 13414
The CCN for CP 198 is 13456

To contact the City Affairs Lobby with any inquiries or to receive an
application, please email cityaffairs at gmail.com. We look forward to
working with you to make the City of Berkeley and University of California
a better place!
