-Cal Dems vs. BCR Thursday, 7pm, **145 Dwinelle**
It’s time for our annual debate against BCR, so instead of our general
meeting on Thursday, we’ll be headed to Dwinelle to watch the action. The
debate this year is focused on the subject of public education. It will
be a great opportunity to see our wonderful Cal Dems debaters show up BCR.
It will be held in a huge room, so bring your floormates, friends,
enemies, etc. Hope to see you all there!
-PVC Meeting Wednesday 7pm, 115 Barrows
This meeting will be the last to prep our debaters in their October 18th
battle against BCR so come and help if you’re willing and able. The
meeting will also focus on the policy, value, and communication for and of
the club, so if you are interested in getting more involved, we’d love to
see you there!
-SmartAss
The release date for SmartAss is this week (Oct. 17). Pick one up at the
Cal Dems table or in the dorms. From what I hear, this issue is looking
to be quite snarky, so enjoy!
-Tahoe: Nov. 9 and 10
As you probably know by now, our club is taking a trip to Tahoe on the
weekend of November 9 and 10. It's an opportunity for our chapters and
members to gather together to plan for our efforts in 2008, network with
our peers, get trainings from experts in the field, hear the latest
campaign updates and how your chapter can get involved, and to have fun
with fellow young democrats across the state. If you’re planning on
going, register at www.youngdems.org; you can also pay your registration
fee here. Afterwards, be to email Sarah G. (sarah at caldems.com) to let her
know that you’re going.
-Voter Registration, Every Tuesday from 11-1 on Sproul
If you are interested in registering voters for the primaries head on down
to the Cal Dems table on Sproul on Tuesdays. All you need is the
initiative to ask people if they are registered to vote. To more
information on how to register voters visit www.caldems.com/voterfaq.php
or email Molly B. (molly at caldems.com).

-Check out the new Carpool application on Facebook!
http://apps.facebook.com/carpool/
Share rides with friends and people you trust using the new Carpool
application on Facebook. Carpool will connect you with other people
going to the same place, and it's safer because you can view other
people's profiles before deciding who to travel with. Everyone saves
money and you might meet someone interesting in the process! All of
the greenhouse gas savings are tracked, so we can measure the total
reductions made by each campus, and you can even link Carpool to your
Facebook events. This type of program gets better the more people who
use it, so sign up, post your next trip, and invite friends using
Carpool's handy invite tool!
Also, Carpool is looking for a few campus reps to help with publicity
at Cal, so if you're interested or know of anyone who might be, please
