UPCOMING EVENTS
>>Fight against unfair alcohol possession legislation at City Council Meeting
Tuesday March 20, 7-8:30pm, 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way (near Center St.)
The City of Berkeley is trying to criminalize the hosting of a party if
minors (anyone under 21) are found to be in possession of alcohol on the
premises! But it gets worse - the ordinance sets up a "guilty until proven
innocent" basis for fighting a misdemeanor or infraction charge, and
intent is not required to be proven. Please join us in the fight against
this legislation at the City Council meeting Tuesday night. Please contact
itregub at gmail.com for details! If you cannot make it you can still email
your council members before Tuesday at 4:30pm
>>Labor Commission Elections
Wednesday March 21, 7-9pm, North Berkeley Senior Center (1901 Hearst Ave.)
On Wednesday night, the Berkeley Labor Commission will witness a historic
event as the city commission with the most students on it (4 out of 9
seats) will hold an election and the chairmanship gavel may possibly pass
from student and Cal Dems member Nicholas Smith to another student and Cal
Dems member. The Cal Dems T-shirt will be prominently worn at this
election. You are cordially invited to attend the Labor Commission on
Wednesday, March 13th at the North Berkeley Senior Center between 7 and
9pm (elections will be held a little after 8pm).
