Candidates should be familiar with Democratic politics and committed to making a difference for our clients — as we are. Strong quantitative and communications skills are required.

Job Description

Blackrock Associates is seeking Fall Semester interns at our downtown Berkeley office.

Blackrock is a leading political consulting firm focused on helping Democratic political causes and non-profit organizations succeed by fully maximizing opportunities in web marketing, online fundraising, and online advocacy. Some of Blackrock’s current clients include Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Patrick Leahy, Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, Senator Patty Murray, Senator Chuck Schumer, and Senator Jim Webb.

As an intern on the Blackrock strategy team, you will be playing a critical support role on our team as we manage and develop the online communications strategies for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in client messaging strategy discussions
  • Brainstorming online marketing plans for list building and fundraising
  • Managing and maintaining the online presence for clients
  • Managing candidate profiles on popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Drafting copy for use on client websites or in blast emails
  • Implement client outbound messaging and managing correspondence that comes back in response
  • Developing testing plans, analyzing results, and reporting back to clients
  • Exploring and implementing new Web 2.0 technologies
  • Creating web graphics and coding simple web pages (no previous experience with Photoshop or HTML required)

If desired, interns will be considered for either temporary (i.e. summer) or permanent positions with Blackrock at the conclusion of the semester.
